The European Event for the 3D and Visualization, Imagina 20101, has honored Canton of Geneva, Switzerland, as the Best 3D territory Model.
In July 2008, the canton of Geneva awarded COWI to generate a detailed 3D city model of the whole canton and to deliver the data for their GIS. This major 3D project included approx. 76.000 buildings on about 245 sq. km. using existing stereo aerial images (photogrammetry) as well as 2D cadastral footprints and delivery in the geodatabase format (ESRI). Early this year, after it´s  completion in 2009, The 3D model of Geneva has been recognized with the price Imagina 2010 for the “Best 3D Territory Model” in the category “Landscape & Territory”.
